The voice of reason. Worth reading. "As the slogan says, "the future is female." On college campuses, that future has arrived. Women are now 60 percent of college graduates. The fading male presence in higher education has ripple effects—including male underemployment, falling marriage rates, and family instability—that should prompt concerns about the country's social and economic future. Dig deeper into the issue, however, and you'll discover that focusing on college, as many do, misses a big part of the problem. In fact, the education gender gap favoring girls goes all the way back through the education pipeline. Trying to analyze this gender gap lands one in the middle of a red-hot culture war zones: the conflict over sex and gender identity. A powerful group of activists, educators, and academics seeks to dismantle—or at least, blur—the sex binary. But there's no way to help boys, or to alleviate the societal woes that follow from their struggling school performance, without directly confronting the fact that they develop differently from girls. The boy problem isn't going away, whatever pronouns kids want to use". From an early age, boys are exposed to injustice and bias against them, and it starts in schools. "The University of Trento researchers started by comparing the grades almost 40,000 students received on their classroom exams with the scores they obtained on nearly 40,000 standardized language and arithmetic tests in order to determine how teachers’ evaluations tend to favor females. The 38,957 pupils were in the tenth grade, making them between 15 and 16 years old. The national standardized tests were set and scored anonymously, but the classroom exams were set and graded non-anonymously by their teachers. In line with previous studies, the girls performed better than the boys in the standardized tests of language, while the boys were ahead at maths. The teachers, however, put the girls in front in both subjects. The girls’ average grade in language was 6.6 (out of 10), with compares with 6.2 for the boys. In maths, the average grade for the girls was 6.3, while the boys averaged 5.9, which is below the pass mark of 6". Due to biological conditions, the brains of boys and girls absorb knowledge differently, and therefore education for them should be adapted differently. Unfortunately, feminized schools also omit an important scientific aspect and favor a female style of education that causes great harm to boys and men. "In order for students to find success when it comes to mastering skills, it’s important to understand the cognitive awareness and cognitive readiness of students when it comes to things like decision making, behavior, and the best approaches to stimulating the brain. Cognitive awareness and cognitive readiness apply to students and teachers, who are attempting to stimulate the brains of students whose networks in connectivity are more front to back (males) or left to right (females). Understanding the brain that tends to function more in each separate hemisphere and the brain that functions across both hemispheres to a greater degree partly explains the reason boys and girls learn differently. This, of course, is not an absolute, but certainly true in the majority of boys and girls. Other factors impacting the brain include the ways neural transmitters and hormones (estrogen and testosterone) affect the brain during learning and development. This partly explains the more pronounced brain differences in adolescents aged 14-17, when testosterone in males is accelerated during puberty. Imaging technologies are providing unique looks into the brain and this provides a golden opportunity for educators, coaches, parents, and those working with boys and girls to learn more". This is yet another study on the prejudice of evaluating boys worse than girls in schools. The common denominator of all these studies is that regardless of which country these studies are conducted, the results are always unfavorable for boys. "When researchers across the world — from Israel and Sweden to France and Czechia — explored teachers’ grading behaviors, either by having educators grade hypothetical students’ identical works while only changing the students’ gender, or comparing grades achieved by “similarly competent” male and female students, they found that girls consistently receive higher grades than boys. Further cementing this pattern is a recently published study conducted on nearly 39,000 10th grade students in Italy. Authors Ilaria Lievore and Moris Triventi, both in the department of sociology and social research at the University of Trento, found that for students with the same level of “subject-specific competence,” as measured by standardized test scores, girls are graded more generously than boys. In Italy, students are graded on a one to ten scale, with six being a passing score. In mathematics, girls are graded about 0.4 points higher than similarly competent boys. In language, the gender grading premium is 0.3 points in favor of girls. The simple fact is that, despite their best intentions, teachers can be swayed by the same unconscious biases as the rest of us. As one anonymous teacher pointed out on Reddit, “Teacher’s mood plays into grades. How the student acts in class affects grading. How the students’ parents act plays into grades.”". The tactic of blaming men and boys affects their lives. Forcing boys to apologize for crimes not theirs is irrational and is intended to stigmatize them solely on their gender. "Such issues are undoubtedly in need of our attention – but increasingly, experts such as Lynn-Evans are warning against a reactionary culture that demonises boys. Criminal defence lawyer Sandra Paul has said she is currently receiving four to five inquiries a month, with allegations including “unwelcome brushing up against someone in the lunch queue” and “truth or dare games that go wrong”. None of this surprising to me. I’ve three stepsons and enough friends with teenage boys to know that ordinary things like taking a taxi with a member of the opposite sex now come with an undercurrent of fear: what if she subsequently claims inappropriate touching occurred? Worse: what if a boy had behaved inappropriately without realising it? There is no limit to the grey areas between two adults, and these are sensitive situations involving kids: by definition clumsy and inexperienced". Rape culture and double standards are destroying boys. great article with examples of what effects it has on guys. "The story is recounted by a mother who withheld her name out of fear for her son. She had other sons too, and observed that, “throughout their young lives they have routinely been told by their young female friends that they ‘hate men’ and that ‘all men are rapists’. So fevered has the atmosphere among young women become that today something as innocent as a male tapping you on the shoulder can be construed as assault.” Do not doubt it. A teacher recently committed suicide over something that trivial because it led to a court case. One of this mother’s sons was 13 when he was sent a topless photo by a schoolgirl. With another girl he had been involved in “saucy texting and some mutual touching”. There was zero question of full-blown sex taking place and all the behaviour was mutual and consensual, as far as the boy was aware. But one of the girls’ mothers found the material on her daughter’s phone and complained to the school. The boy’s mother then discovered the truth about our society. She wrote, “…the stark difference between the treatment of girls and boys became evident, to my son’s lifelong cost. The girls, who were equally culpable, as sending nude photographs is both an offence and against the school rules, were dealt with discreetly. A quiet word was had with them and their parents and that was an end to it. Conversely, my son, who’d never been in trouble before, was suspended for two days, the final step before expulsion. The school’s rationale was that the other pupils would see this as ‘justice’.” More in link empathygap.uk/?p=4291#men #women #equal #father #discriminationmen #discrimination #segregation #falseaccusations #domesticviolence #childsupport #equalparenting #parentalalienation #divorce #fraud #falseaccusationsrape #fatherless #childsharecustody #fahtermatter #law #brokenlaw #familylaw #court #depression, #depressionafterdivorce #Divorce #effectsofdivorce #health #masculinity #mentalhealth #suicidal #suicide #equalpay #equalwork #menrights #humanrights

UNESCO has published a report in which it states that the education of boys is constantly deteriorating on a global level. "In many countries, boys are at greater risk than girls of repeating grades, failing to complete different education levels and having poorer learning outcomes in school. Where previously boys’ disadvantage seemed most notable in high- or upper-middle-income contexts at the beginning of the millennium, this has shifted and now includes several low- and lower-middle-income countries. Secondary education is where boys’ disadvantage is most prevalent. The right to education remains unfulfilled for many boys. Far too many children and youth of primary and secondary school age are out of school. Just over half of them are boys. It has been a concern that the COVID-19 pandemic would lead to an increase in school dropouts. In 2020 – the last school year before the pandemic – an estimated 259 million children and youth of primary and secondary school age were out of school, 132 million of whom were boys. At the global level, almost no country with data has achieved gender parity at the tertiary level. The gender parity index data in 2019 for tertiary enrolment showed 88 men for every 100 women enrolled at tertiary level. While previously boys’ disengagement and dropout was a concern mainly in high-income countries, several low- and middle-income countries have seen a reversal in gender gaps, with boys now lagging behind girls in enrolment and completion. In 73 countries less boys than girls are enrolled in upper-secondary education. Boys are more likely than girls to repeat primary grades in 130 out of 142 countries with data, indicating their poorer progression through school. In 57 countries with data on learning poverty, 10-year-old boys fare worse than girls in mastering reading skills and adolescent boys continue to fall behind girls at the secondary level. In mathematics, on the other hand, the gender gap that once worked against girls at the start of the millennium has narrowed or equalized with boys in half of all countries with data." Another psychologist points out that today's culture of hatred and blaming boys and men has a tremendously destructive effect on them. "In the last few months, I have heard several comments about men on the radio, that had they been about women, would not have been tolerated. The term ‘misogyny’ is used a lot, but none of the teenage boys and girls I work with have heard the term ‘misandry’, or know what that means. The tendency of the BBC and other news channels is to focus on women as victims, whether in the context of domestic abuse, eating disorders, self-image issues, ‘gaslighting’, bullying etc. Rarely is a man the central focus as the victim in these stories, and rarely is the female ‘written in’ as the perpetrator in these articles. “I have concerns as to how these inconsistencies and sweeping generalisations about men and boys go unchallenged.” More in link www.centreformalepsychology.com/male-psychology-magazine-listings/should-we-be-concerned-about-the-messages-that-men-and-boys-are-exposed-to

If problems in education concerned girls, countless programs would be created to compensate for these unfavorable conditions and situation. Unfortunately, the problem concerns boys, so there are no support programs addressed to boys. This is exactly what equality looks like in feminist double standards. "Consider some specifics. Boys have lower grades than girls throughout their primary and secondary school years. They have more behavior problems. Boys are more likely to be diagnosed with attention deficit disorder; to wind up in special-education classes; and to be held back, be suspended, or drop out. Hence, they’re less likely to graduate from high school. In fact, the high school graduation gap between girls and boys is within a hair of the gap between poor and middle-class kids. Along with their subpar overall college graduation numbers, boys now constitute a minority of M.A.s and Ph.D.s and of medical and law students. This trend isn’t an example of some peculiar American dysfunction. Boys’ lagging school outcomes show up everywhere, from the enlightened Nordics to the hidebound Gulf States. An OECD survey, based on a Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) measure of 64 countries, summarized the situation this way: boys “are less likely than girls to attain basic proficiency in core subjects, report investing less time and effort on schoolwork, and express more negative attitudes to school.” Boys get lower grades and attend university less often than girls across the developed world—and increasingly in developing countries, too: one 2019 survey cited studies confirming a gap in Zimbabwe, Kenya, Malaysia, Turkey, Iran, Qatar, and Oman, among other places. True, in parts of the Third World, girls often don’t complete elementary school, so it’s rare to see them eclipsing their brothers. But in every place where girls do have the opportunity, they’re doing exactly that". This demonization of boys and men is similar to false accusations and their effects on their victims. Every man can now ask himself if what we all men are accused of is true. "Society is in danger of demonising boys and young men. They are lambasted in schools by toxic masculinity crusaders and denigrated in popular culture. Commentary routinely seems to present boys as inherently bad. The impression is given that parents cannot be trusted to raise them as good citizens, leading to the worrying conclusion that outside organisations should do the job for them. But some organisations which come into schools and talk to boys have developed a habit of telling them to move away from “toxic” masculinity. That, in my view, feeds into a sense of uneasiness". Great comparisons regarding the empathy gap between boys and girls and the social effects of having such double standards. "Society has too much trouble seeing harm to boys even when the harm is there for all to be seen. This pattern holds even in the context of sexual predation. The legal system appears to be significantly less willing to protect boys from sexual predation by adults than it is to protect girls. A study of a decade’s worth of cases in the New Jersey school system concluded that when teachers have sex with minor students, male teachers are more likely to go to jail for that transgression, and of those teachers who go to jail, male teachers are given longer sentences. (The report did not break down the gender of victims, but from the discussion, it appears that overwhelmingly the cases involved a teacher and student of opposite genders.)" 41% of boys age 12-16 in England "had been taught [in school] that ‘young men are currently a problem for society'. Also "27% of boys have been exposed to the term 'toxic masculinity'" How do you think this will affect them as they grow up? "Writer and broadcaster Jo-Anne Nadler provides a thought-provoking analysis of trends in UK schooling which she describes as a ‘Social Justice Educational Complex’ that threatens core values of impartiality and universality in our schools. Nadler argues that a ‘revolution’ delivered ‘largely by stealth’ is supported by a burgeoning industry of external providers and often self-declared ‘expert’ consultants on issues such as race, equity, gender and sexuality". If boys are constantly accused and denied access to male education, the consequences for them are negative. Unfortunately, governments are deliberately neglecting these problems, and are actually exacerbating them. "Somewhere around 76% of school teachers are women. If girls were falling behind in male-dominated teaching environments, it’s hard not to suspect that at least some inquiries would be made about whether those environments were partly responsible. Yet the Government seems strangely uninterested in the issue. A fascinating OECD report once found that boys were more hostile to school and likely to do fewer hours of homework than their female peers. It’s not particularly surprising, when the same research found that their teachers were consistently displaying favouritism towards female students. Children with present father figures are more likely to get better grades, have better verbal skills, and more positive peer relationships. For those boys raised in single parent households, schools can provide positive male role models lacking at home – or rather, could."
